How long have you been coming to Classika?
I've been coming to Classika about 10 months.

What benefits have you gotten from coming here?
Since I've started a regular exercise program at Classika, I've lost about 25 pounds (and
still losing), lowered my blood pressure into normal range, generally feel better/stronger
and have been able to participate in several 5K events in the Lynchburg area...I did my
first 5K after only a couple of months of training at Classika!

What's been a pleasant surprise to you, and/or what's been the most
difficult thing in getting better fitness?
The most pleasant surprise for me since coming to Classika is how much I really look
forward to exercising!  Working out with a small group of friends in the semi-private
atmosphere at Classika is remarkably fun and much less intimidating that I thought it
would be.  Another pleasant surprise has been my trainer, Tara.  She is a great motivator,
knows just how hard to push me and makes each workout unique by varying the type of
exercise at each session.....we've never done the same workout twice. Probably the most
difficult thing related to getting better fitness is just getting started...the first couple of
sessions were a shock to my exercise-deprived body!  But, after just a couple of weeks and
much encouragement from Tara, I really started to see measurable improvement in
the number of repetitions I could do and amount of weight that I could use.
Do you have
any advice for someone thinking about training?
My advice for anyone thinking about
training is to find a fitness center and a personal trainer that you feel comfortable with and
just get started! Classika is a great fit for me.

Why did you decide to begin a fitness program and why did you choose
Classika?
I decided to begin a fitness program primarily based on the need to lose weight (and alot
of it!).  I had begun a nutrition/eating plan and lost 50 pounds in 6 months, but I knew that I
needed to add exercise to get the results I wanted.  I had never liked the idea of a
traditional fitness center...my size made me self-conscious and I just wasn't sure how or
where to start.  Some co-workers recommended the small-group personal training at
Classika Fitness Center.  So, I checked it out.  I like having a personal trainer that makes
training plans based on my abilities and needs.  I also like the cozy, semi-private setting
and have enjoyed working out with a small group of friends/co-workers....we laugh,
encourage and celebrate our accomplishments!
